The fixes are at our finger tips more or less. Hoven was on NHL radio with John Davidson last night basically reinforcing all of my "crazy, discreditable and unfounded" takes on hockey/the Kings, I am just going to repeat the basic tenets again:

Sutter, Davis Payne and the coaching staff need to go. They refuse to change with the league let alone adjust the tiniest bit to accommodate the direction the league is headed

Maybe find a better D man than Gravel, but let McNab walk. Muzz is serviceable, LaDue is going to come around just nicely, DD is DD, AMart is serviceable and Forbs is coming along nicely. Just need one more above average defenseman and we're good

Play the youth, let Kempe and Brodz have some PP time, separate Carter and Kopitar on the PP and stop with this loyalty and seniority crap. Brown has been better than last year but still he is a glorified plug at best.

Gaborik, needs to go, Iginla will retire, Greene will retire - self solving problems.

Trade Bishop before draft day. Call up Campbell and expose him to the exp draft.

At the start of Next season let the Kids play, let the kids play, LET THE KIDS PLAY!!! they will never get better with Sutter dogging them all the time.

Allow the Defense to pinch, forwards be less lazy and anticipate which will be the right side of the puck to be on and move your damn legs to get there.

The NHL is now a league of smaller -ish players that play physical, win puck battles and move their legs to create space. They think fast and move the puck even faster, they have handles and make plays at full speed and have a hockey IQ that is above average. Bend with the times, retain your defensive posture but mix in some of the tendencies that are becoming more prevalent and you will have success.

Call me insane (many of you already do I'm sure), but I beleive Gabby can still earn his pay and produce around 20 goals for the Kings. He is stiffled in a sytem like the rest of the team where corsi is the be all end all. If Gabby were to be in a system where creativity and speed were more nurtured rather than grinding along the boards and taking endless pointshots that end up no where near the net or glancing of the shinks and sticks of the defender, then yeah, Gabby could look more like the Gabby of the World Cup. Imagine what Gabby could do on a team like Pitt, Chicago, Toronto, etc...

Even with the xGF, it's still a joke. They have break away after break away and still show no creativity or passion. Only Carter has been money this year in that regard and I don't really see Sutter praising him at all. It must be because Carts has actually tried scoring by taking higher percentage shots and picking corners instead of off the half-wall. What can Sutter do though? Bench him? There would be protesters with nooses at every game. Anyway , you see these just miserable, predictable attempts at scoring goals over and over with no end in sight and the players playing and absolutely robotic style of boring hockey wishing they were home with their mamas.

That's why if I'm Lombardi, I'm on the phone with Gerrard Gallant asking him to coach our team. He is a players coach who will nurture the unique talents of each individual player and bring us back to respectability.

As far as Brown goes, I think he will be picked by the Golden Twats. Poor bastard looks lost out there most games. It's been real Brownie.

Great call! I can totally see this happening.

As for Brown, doesn't he have a NTC? Lombardi has to protect him.

He has a modified NTC. It's my understanding, however, that only NMCs are automatically protected.

Thank you ducks fan! Rare to receive such praise from one of you folks (assuming you were not being condescending).

Yeah, It has to be a NMC I'm pretty sure. Brown has a limted NTC so it's being widely talked about that he is eligable to be picked if he is not protected.

A team that wants first crack at negotiating with him. Last year, UFAs Goligoski, Vesey, and Yandle were all traded before July 1st. The return will generally be a lower draft pick.

So you're telling me the last time we finished dead last in xGF we won the Stanley Cup? That was my takeaway from this blog.

Expected Goals For can be useful in that it suggests what you might expect from the team or its players in a different system. Comparing it to actuals Goals For, you can get a sense of how much a team's system is stifling or promoting goals. LA's xGF/60 is above average (9th-best) compared to the rest of the league, which suggests that they could have an above average offense, while their actual GF/60 is well below average (6th-worst). The difference between them, a dead-last xGF/60 Diff of -0.41, gives an indication of how much Sutter's system is holding back the team's offense.

For comparison, let's look at Nashville. Their actual GF/60 (2.93) is 0.30 higher than their xGF/60 (2.63). That checks out because we all know that Laviolette is an offensive-minded coach. He gets more offense out of his roster than an average (in the sense of promoting offense) coach would.

LA's xGF/60 is actually 0.15 higher than Nashville's, suggesting that their players ought to be capable of slightly outproducing Nashville's. Imagine if LA had Laviolette as coach and received the +0.30 xGF/60 Diff that he's getting out of Nashville. LA would have a GF/60 of 3.08, which would tie them with CBJ for 5th-best offense in the league. That's with a top offensive coach, though, which might not be what they get. Even just a coach who's average at promoting offense, which is more likely that Sutter would get replaced with, should vault them from near the bottom in GF/60 to the middle (i.e. the "average") of the league. If they were to retain much of their defensive training that they received from Sutter, though, an average offense with a still-above average (if not top) defense would be a solid playoff team.

On the other hand, he's hit an unusual number of posts this season.
- Sheng Peng

Correct me if I'm wrong in your case, but whenever people bring this up, I get the impression that it's being chalked up to bad luck. Bad (or good) luck is an acceptable explanation if it happens once, twice or rarely, but if it's happening over and over again, it's not luck. Kopitar hitting an unusual number of posts this season is due to him trying to pick the edges of the net because he and the team are struggling to score. That will turn around not when his "luck" changes, but when he gets out of the funk that's impacting his confidence and decision-making.

Well ya, but what team? Like what is the market for a goalie with an injury history looking for possibly a huge payday and what team is going to throw away draft picks for a chance of possibly signing him?

Sorry I was in a hurry and couldn't spell out my question yesterday.
